Frequently Asked Questions

We do our best to regularly update this page with common, study-related questions that the CARRIES Team has received from our patients, healthcare providers, families, caregivers & their loved ones.

Please feel free to contact us below if your question is not answered on this page or you would like to talk with a member of the CARRIES Team!

Q: Can I join the CARRIES Study now?
A: Not quite yet! We are putting on the final touches for the study. We should be enrolling patients by June 2025!
Q: How do my medical & pathology records help this research?
A: We request access to your medical/pathology records because they will help us accurately record information about your colorectal cancer diagnosis. This is important because the CARRIES Study is working to understand the characteristics of cancer cells during pregnancy.

Importantly, your information is secure, your data is protected with a code to keep it confidential, and your privacy will be maintained.

Q: How do I find out if me or my loved one is eligible for the CARRIES Study?
A: Thank you for your interest in joining the CARRIES Study! You may be eligible for this study if you are at least 18 years of age and were diagnosed with colon or rectal cancer during or within 12 months after pregnancy in the United States. To discuss more about whether you may be eligible to join this clinical study, please call/e-mail our team and ask to speak with the study coordinator or leave us a note below!
Q: Can I participate if I am eligible but no longer pregnant?
A: Yes, absolutely! The goals of the CARRIES Study go beyond pregnancy. We are interested in learning about what is going on in colorectal cancer cells during pregnancy and in learning about the unique needs and concerns of women along their pregnancy and cancer journeys. This new information will help us create ways that we can support other women who will be diagnosed with a colorectal cancer in/after pregnancy. We hope you will consider participating & join our CARRIES community!
Q: Can I find the CARRIES Study on clinicaltrials.gov?
A: Soon--We have submitted our study for review & to be assigned a clinicaltrials.gov identifier on the website.
Q: I can't find the return access code to my online survey. What can I do?
A: Your survey responses are protected with a code because we make every reasonable effort to keep your personal information private. Please contact our study team/coordinator at any time. Our team will look up this unique code and share the code/personalized survey link with you over the phone, by e-mail or text message—whichever is easiest for you.
Q: I am unable to upload my records to the secure online survey. What do I do?
A: We are happy to help with that! Please contact us via the form below, by e-mail, or by phone at 615-936-1262.
